a certain point of view

We have no right to ask when sorrow comes, "Why did this happen to me?" unless we ask the same question for every joy that comes our way.

I came across this quote while reading an old issue of Reader’s Digest & it really struck me. It's true, isn't it? Whenever something sad or bad happens to us, it’s extremely difficult for us to understand or accept it. It’s easier to see ourselves as victims in a life that’s not fair. I'm not saying that we shouldn't or that it's wrong. We're only human, after all. And grieving is a part of healing. But why don't we ever wonder when something wonderful falls into our laps?

I tried looking at my life from this vantage point and it brought some unexpected surprises. It's great when you're pondering about something good in your life, trying to find the answer to it because then you start realizing that even if life does suck sometimes, it's still la dolce vita.
