Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

WARNING: For those who've yet to watch, there are some spoilers here! :)

I watched Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix yesterday (di naman masyadong excited, hehe!) with my sister. My review? It was fun but I was slightly disappointed because I felt the excitement wasn't on the same level as it was with the previous movie, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. As it is with adaptations, the movie can never truly capture the original flavor of the book, which is a major letdown if you're a fan of the book more than the movie. Anyway, to be open-minded about the whole thing, I made a short list of some changes made in the movie versus the book.

Some changes I didn’t mind:

~ Harry seeing Snape’s Worst Memory not in the Pensieve, but during Occlumency lessons.
~ Umbridge passing out the dumbed-down books.
~ Tightening of scenes at 12 Grimmauld Place.
~ Combinations of some scenes with Luna.
~ Better effect with the Floo powder head-in-the-fireplace.
~ Sirius giving Harry the picture of the Order.
~ Sirius punching Lucius in the face. Yes!

Changes I didn’t really like:

~ Harry wouldn’t really hand the prophecy to Lucius, would he? Wouldn’t he pretend to and then throw it instead?
~ Neville’s heroism at the battle of the Department of Mysteries being scaled down. He’s pretty much reduced to one good curse.
~ Cho being the traitor, even if it was under the influence of Veritaserum, although, I suppose if you’re going to shrink the plot a bit, it makes some sense.
~ Sirius’s death by Avada Kedavra instead of the more ambiguous one in the book.
~ They kept promoting it as The Rebellion but it was shrunk down to just one big scene by the Weasley twins during the OWLs. I wanted to see more rebelling!

All in all, for me (just ME, ok?), it was the dullest of the HP movies so far.
