the past few days...

Saturday, June 30
After only two hours of sleep, we left for the airport at 3am. I immediately checked in when we arrived so that I could request for an aisle seat near the toilet (yes... the joys of pregnancy). Lucky for me, the person at the counter upgraded me to business class without our having to pay an additional fee, yippee. :) At around 4:15 am, as I queued at Immigration, sweetie and I said our goodbyes. We did it quickly to avoid any drama from unfolding, hehe. I stayed unemotional right until we boarded after an hour’s delay. But I was able to keep my tears in check as I called the hubby. And it was goodbye Riyadh.

Sunday, July 1
Because of the previous day’s flight delay, the plane landed in Manila at past 11 pm, finished with Immigration and baggage claim at past 12 am and got home in Tandang Sora at almost 1 am. Did a bit of catching up with the in-laws for a bit then finally went up to our bedroom by 2. After I freshened up, I tried to sleep. And that’s when the damn burst and I began to cry until I snoozed off from sheer exhaustion. I hadn’t even slept for an hour yet when the hubby called. We were both feeling the separation acutely. It was awful. I cried myself to sleep again. When I got up at around 10, my eyes were all puffy & bloodshot. It was like nursing a terrible hangover with a heartache instead of a headache. Lunch was a noisy affair with the family with all the catching up and the comments over my big belly which, according to everyone, was actually small for 7 months. I enjoyed the time with them and the food even more.

The afternoon was spent shopping for preggy clothes with Ate Kaye. It’s amazing that maternity dresses now look so normal… No need to look like a walking tent. And I absolutely love the Belly Belt! It allows me to wear my regular jeans so I get to save on bottoms a lot. We dropped off our purchases at home then attended Mass. But I wasn’t able to pay much attention because I was busy trying to keep my eyes open… I was SO sleepy. I went to bed before midnight.

Monday, July 2
I only fell asleep at 4 in the morning after having again bawled my eyes out. It was so difficult going to bed alone.

I met up with my best friend Olga at 2 pm in Trinoma. It was supposed to be lunch with Eleanor & Jenny, too but I didn’t have the energy to go all the way to Makati and they couldn’t leave their offices either on a Monday so it was just Olga and me. Siya lang kasi yung free. Then later that night, I went to the cinema to watch the day’s last full show of Transformers with Ate Kaye & her hubby, Kuya Moses, Karen and Jon (bonding time!). It was GREAT!!! I thought it would be disappointing because my fave Bumblebee was a Camaro in the movie instead of the much-loved Volkswagen beetle from the cartoons of my childhood but boy… was I wrong! We laughed our heads off and stayed on the edge of our seats for almost the entire two hours. It was a blast! I want to watch it again!

Tuesday, July 3
My Cebu Pacific flight to Zamboanga was at 5:50 am so Mama & Papa drove me to the airport at 4:30. I wasn’t going to see them again until December when I return to Manila for our baby’s christening so I was given a lot of advice on taking care of my pregnancy and best wishes from the excited grandparents-to-be. :)

As it always is with CebPac, we landed in Zamboanga 20 mins ahead of schedule. It was wonderful to be home with my family again… back to the simple life. Even if I felt incomplete without the hubby by my side. Sigh. My dad prepared my favorite dishes and it was a day filled with stories and laughter.

Today…
Much as I love being with my family, I spend most of my time missing Jeje. We’re both having a hard time adjusting being away from one another. He’s coping by going straight to sleep after work, unless we decide to go on-line. And I cope by texting him and texting him and texting him… ang pagbabalik ng babaeng makulit! I’m counting the days until September when I finally get to see my big “baby” and my little baby.
