Is it just me or...?

I don’t know if I’m merely old-fashioned and a little out-of-the-loop but I still can’t get over the fact how most girls in their twenties are so obsessed with their looks these days.

Take my 23-year old sister, for instance. It takes her 30 minutes, or more, to take a bath. Why? Because she has all these hair treatment stuff she has to leave on, whitening scrubs for her skin, etc. After she’s done with bathing, it’s another hour or so for dressing up, fixing her hair AND make-up. She can’t leave the house without blow-drying her hair first or ironing it straight or curling it. She goes absolutely mental if she has a bad hair day. I keep telling her there are bigger problems in this world besides having a bad hair day but she won’t listen! Then there’s the war paint, of course. She said it’s still minimal with only pressed powder, mascara, eyeliner, blush & lipstick. Well, she doesn’t look overdone naman, in fairness to her. I’ve seen her friends who look like they’re ready to party at any given moment. If any of them were made to choose between spending their money on good food and getting a rebond, the latter would win… No contest.

And I used to think I was vain! I also primp up everytime I leave the house but the amount of make up & the effort I put into it depends on where I'm going and what the occasion is. Most days it's just powder, lipstick & perfume then I'm out the door.

Perhaps I really am just getting old. :o)
