chicken on my mind

Chicken isn't high on my list of favorite food. I think it might have something to do with biting into a chicken leg that turned out to be still bloody on the inside when I was a child. Also, since pork is a no-no here in Riyadh, the sight of chicken dishes on every menu I see turns me off it even more.

Still, for every rule, there's an exception and for my disinterestedness in chicken, the exception is chicken kabsa. It's commonly regarded as Saudi Arabia's national dish dish and it is mind-blowingly good especially when it's cooked the traditional way. No instant mixes in my kabsa, please.

The chicken is well-done and tender and the rice that accompanies it has been cooked in the chicken's broth along with various spices so you can imagine the burst of flavors on your palate. Writing about it is making me crave again but I know if i keep indulging, I'm going to blow up faster than a balloon.

I wonder if Saturday is a long enough break from another serving of chicken kabsa? :d

  2. Sayang! I hope you get the chance to try it eventually.

Hahaha! Me, too. On our vacations, I don't want to eat chicken at all except for chicken skin. :)
