In The Zone

People are where they are because that's exactly where they really want to be... whether they'll admit that or not. - Earl Nightingale

We all have our comfort zones. It's a  place where we feel safe and secure from life's unpredictability. It's like a blueprint to life that we follow, helping us make choices that keep us in the familiar. I guess it's like going on auto-pilot and we merely keep gravitating to what we know.

We all have a defined comfort zone based on particular events or circumstances that have happened in our lives. Staying inside one can sometimes seem like continuing in a job or relationship too long but because the fear of changing, or moving on, can be very paralyzing and terrifying, we just stay put.

Breaking out of that predictable and safe haven that we've created for ourselves can be difficult. The journey through overcoming the fear of the unknown, of changing is a gradual process. We have to continuously make a conscious decision to engage, not to retreat. Personally, I've learned that walking through my fears did not kill me. The growth in confidence and happiness I have gained has been well worth it.
