The Hero… the Man of Steel… the one who swoops down to fly you off to safety and save your day. Know him? Oh, he's just around. I've actually met a few. Oh, it's not just one man. There are a lot of them, if you care to really look.
He's the guy who's there for you when you're at your lowest, when you don't know if you can make it through another day. Actually, I live with one. But he gave up the cape some time ago and he's just a man now, praise God, because this Lois has always been able to fly. No saving needed, thank you.
But you know what I mean if you've met one or know of one. They're the men who have this insane complex that compels them to rescue damsels in all kinds of distress. Some of them aren't even consciously aware of it. Their radars can zone in on you when you're at your most vulnerable. It gives them a kick and a boost to the ego when you cling to them and depend on them for your every need. They tell you what to do and everything's great. That is if you plan to play the damsel role to its hilt. But what happens when he finds someone else who needs to be rescued? Or you finally realize that you have powers of your own? Then what?
Me? Well, Superman can hog the limelight all he wants, especially if it's Brandon Routh or even Christopher Reeve. But it's the man I love and he's just super.
