Okay, here's a quick flashback...

August 21, Tuesday
Had my routine check-up with my Ob at 2:30pm. Examination done. Verdict: I need to be admitted already 'coz my bag of water's ready to burst at any second. So, I went home and got my stuff together and was back in the hospital by 5pm. I was brought to the Labor Room instead of my room so I could be monitored more closely. A midwife did my perineal prep (embarassing!!!) after dinner then I laid in my bed to wait. And wait. And wait...

August 22, Wednesday
4 am - I'm still only at 2cm and the contractions don't even bother me. My doctor calls and orders the nurse to start IV Syntocinon to move things along. By 10 am, my bag of water finally burst and my Ob warned me that things were going to get a lot more painful because she'd increased my Synto dosage. She wasn't kidding. And the midwife was kind enough to tell me "Ma'am Cands, pag naka-Synto, yung sakit doble compared sa normal labor." Gee, thanks. By 2 pm, I was wheeled to the Delivery Room. The contractions finally got too much for me to bear so when my Ob asked, "Gusto mong mag-painless?" YES... PLEASSSSSSSSSSSSEEEEE! The anesthesiologist gave me a spinal. After that, she asked me if I could still feel my legs. Yup. Was I sure? Uh-huh. Could I lift my leg? Up my right leg goes. Ha? Dapat di mo na nagagawa yon! Don't worry, Doc. Anesthesia always takes some time to take its effect on me. Tomador ka ba?! Hehe... Di naman po masyado. Mabagal lang talaga mag-travel ang stimuli going to my brain. After another 5 minutes, I'm blissfully numb in the lower half of my body. And the pushing began. I could still feel the contractions but without the pain... Yes! At 3:15 pm... BABY OUT! They placed him on my chest for a while before the Pediatrician whisked him away. I woke up an hour later in the Recovery Room and was transferred to my room 30 minutes after. I was still pretty high on whatever it was they sedated me with so I was in & out of sleep while family visited me.

August 23, Thursday
4:30pm - After a long day of waiting for my doctor to make her rounds, for billing to clear me and for the nursery to finish the newborn screening on my baby, I was finally discharged. My excited sister took it upon herself to go and get Jeolo from the nursery and deliver him to me instead of waiting for me to be the one to fetch him once the orderly with the wheelchair arrived. I finally took my little man home.

And it's been a crazy, sleep-deprived journey since then. :o)
