Round Three: Ladies' Night

I get to watch American Idol a day late here in Riyadh but after a Plurk friend raved about Crystal Bowersox's rendition of Tracy Chapman's Give Me A Reason, I decided to view all their performances on YouTube right away.

Crystal Bowersox. I began smiling upon hearing the first few notes and throughout her song, she also had the audience clapping and cheering her on. She was sooooo good! I hope America will finally give someone like her a real chance on winning American Idol.

Siobhan Magnus. Unpredictable as ever, she gave a beautiful, haunting rendition of House of the Rising Sun. I wonder why Simon didn't like it?

Lilly Scott. Not too thrilled with her song choice, Patsy Cline's I Fall to Pieces, as well as the mandolin but her husky voice and quirky phrasing still managed to draw me in. I hope she survives Friday's cut.

Didi Benami. Much better than last week, IMHO, with Rhiannon by Fleetwood Mac but I think it would've been even better if the backup singers hadn't come in during the chorus.

Lacey Brown. She sang Brandi Carlile's The Story and I think it was a good performance plus I loved her falsetto.

Katelyn Epperly. I was quite bored by her take on Carole King's I Felt the Earth Move.

Paige Miles. I so love Charlie Chaplin's song Smile but she didn't do it justice.

Katie Stevens. I think she's a lost little girl who doesn't know who she is yet and singing Kelly Clarkson's Breakaway didn't help her find her musical identity any.
