of lazy days and love songs

I've been listening to Iron and Wine songs most of the day and I have to say I never get tired of listening to them.  Most of the melodies are light and airy with generous amounts of guitar picking and lyrics that make you think. The sound is perfect to listen to on a lazy Sunday afternoon or when you feel like winding down at the end of the day.

Naked As We Came is one of my ultimate favorites. It's a beautiful love song which seems to tell the story of a couple growing old together, who have been each other's lover and best friend, and who are now facing the autumn of their lives. It's very sweet and poignant. I hope it touches you that way it has touched me.

She says wake up, it's no use pretending
I'll keep stealing, breathing her
Birds are leaving over autumn's ending
One of us will die inside these arms

Eyes wide open
Naked as we came
One will spread our
Ashes round the yard

She says if I leave before you darling
Don't you waste me in the ground
I lay smiling like our sleeping children
One of us will die inside these arms

Eyes wide open
Naked as we came
One will spread our
Ashes round the yard
